HIP HOP TIME CAPSULE - 1993

Available on DVD

August 23, 2005

Through Music Video Distributors
clip_image001
Oaks, PA - Music Video Distributors and Rap Entertainment are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Hip Hop Time Capsule – 1993 for worldwide distribution on DVD.

The early 90s was a great period in the history of Hip Hop. The vibe was upbeat, yet hardcore, as groups were becoming more innovative and incorporating multiple elements of modern music to form beats completely original and unmatched. The lyrical styles remained street savy and eloquent, but harsher new styles such as those of Redman and ONYX emerged. Old school heroes like Dr. Dre and Kool G Rap also commanded much respect. This DVD takes a look back at the videos, interviews, performances, and freestyles of 1993, and features over 20 artists

Hip-Hop Theater Fest. THis Weekend
Listen to this article Listen to this article

The Hip-Hop Theater Festival heads to New York City for one week to mark it's 5th year anniversary, June 11th – June 18th.

This year's festival will highlight work developed from Hip-Hop artists over the past year and includes live music, theatre, dance, spoken word, various workshops and the premieres of two productions by acclaimed international artists: UK popper Benji Reid in "13 Mics" and German B-Boy Niels “Storm” Robitzky in "Solo For Two."

From solo works to ensemble pieces, HHTF unites the best of both emerging and established Hip-Hop artists from around the country. This year the event will be hosted between New York Theater Workshop, Dance Theater Workshop and the Apollo Theater.

Over the past five years, the Hip-Hop Theater Festival has grown from a fledgling project into an independent non-profit organization that has sought to bring audiences and artists from the Hip-Hop generation together with traditional mainstream theater audiences.

In addition to dates in New York, HHTF has also planned to make stops in Washington D.C. (July) and Chicago (September).

Music News: Cafe Dupri opens in ATL
Listen to this article Listen to this article

Jermaine Dupri's dream of bringing healthy food to Atlanta's population will be realized tomorrow (June 6) when the mogul’s Cafe Dupri officially opens for business.

The 22 hour-a-day cafe is based in Atlanta and the menu features healthy cuisine and desserts.

"It's not your typical southern food," Dupri told AllHipHop.com. "I opened [Cafe Dupri], because I believe that young people need to eat better."

The cafe is the mogul’s latest addition to his growing business portfolio, which includes the So So Def Record label, a film division, the 3 Vodka liquor brand (which is distilled from Soy) and other ventures.

Dupri revealed to AllHipHop.com that his business empire will soon include his own hotel.

"It's time for me to live out my dreams of being the Donald Trump of Atlanta," Dupri said. "Once [Cafe Dupri] jumps off, then I am opening a small, but hot hotel called Hotel D and then the So So Def store where you can buy everything from the Afroman dolls to jackets, t-shirts everything from So So Def that people want."

MARK YOUR CALENDARS WITH A "TRIPLE X" - IT'S ANNIE SPRINKLE TIME
