AJ and Free leave 106 and Park
Listen to this article Listen to this article

Rumors had been going around for months that Aj and Free wheere leaving 106. But yesterday it was made 100% offical as a somber AJ with Free on his a cell phone, announced that they would no longer be hosting 106 and Park.

Free hadn't been present on the show sense the BET Awards. And record lable exec's have been listening to her album, but no one knows what lable she is going to sign to. Free has completed 16 tracks and is ready to take on the music scene.

Both hosts will go on to pursue other interests. AJ announced that he will be opening a new restaurant, Mahogany, in Brooklyn, N.Y. and will continue working with his management company. AJ also announced that Free said that her Website would also be coming soon.

The question is who will replace them? Julissa seems to be the top pic of the BET exec's, now headed by Reginald Hudlin, to be the temp. replacement host. And Tigger who hosted Monday's show will probably fill AJ's shoes. However, it's also rumored that Tigger will be following AJ and Free's footsteps.

Meet Kae Brown
Listen to this article Listen to this article

"I chose the HBF because I was an attendee last year and saw the magic of the HBF bring self publishers like myself to life. People were wheeling and dealing and selling books to folks they might not ever have any dealings with. I think with numbers in the 40,000 area of attendees this year, it is a good place to get your name out there."

Like many other black indie. authors, Kae Brown will be at the Harlem Book Fair on Sat. promoting her book, "How Blind Is Love...Really." The Harlem Book Fair draws a large crowd each year and it's a excellent place to jump off your career as an author.

About The Book
Clinton Womans Facility in New Jersey is the home of Ms. Diamond Staple. She is currently serving 25 to life. As Diamond sits in jail she reflects on her life from childhood to adulthood. Diamond grew up in a suburban neighborhood, had 2 loving parents, plenty of friends and a good education so where did she go wrong? How can someone with so much guidance end up in so much trouble? Its always been said that love is blind, but the question Diamond poses to you is How Blind is Love Really?

Strap in and join Diamond as she takes you on the bumpy roller coaster ride called her life. With ups and downs and swoops and turns you wont believe the things this suburban chic has been through. From first loves to loves lost, best friends to arch enemies, life to death. Diamond has a story to tell and hopes you wont ever want to walk a mile in her shoes.

SWV Reunites
Listen to this article Listen to this article

After 8 years out of the picture and a less then special solo album from Coco, the ladies of SWV aka Sisters With Voices reunite. SWV remains one of the top selling girl groups in the world. So understandably, word of their return has caused quite a stir within the industry, with several record labels hungrily vying for the ladies' contract. Currently, SWV's management team are weighing their options and a new recording deal should be finalized soon. In conjunction with that, SWV will be doing a photo shoot next month, and press with radio to build awareness of their return to the music scene. They need to make sure they find the right home for their return. The music industry is a whole different game sense their absence. Hopefully Jodeci will reunite and they will all get together and go on a RETURN OF THE NEW JACK SWING TOUR.

Panels of Intrest
The Devolution of Hip Hop: Hip Hop Turns 30
Location: Harlem Hospital Auditorium Time: 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Moderator: Mark Anthony Neal (New Black Man)
Panelists: Nelson George (Hip Hop America; Accidental Hunter); Greg Tate (Everything But the Burden: What White People Are Taking from Black Culture, ed.); Ronin Ro (Raising Hell: The Reign, Ruin, and Redemption of Run-D.M. C. and Jam Master Jay), Danyel Smith (Bliss); Bakari Kitwana (Why White Kids Love Hip Hop), Gwendolyn B. Pough (Check It Before I Wreck It) Ralph Ellison only hoped we'd translate black vernacular in such a way as to gain entry into the hallowed house of art. How could he know that Ralph Lauren would one day broker that vernacular's marketing prowess into a worldwide licensing deal for bed sheets writ large with Jay-Z's John Hancock? Where Hip Hop was once a buyer's market in which the audience decided what was street legit, it has now become a seller's market, in which what gets sold as hip hop is whatever the boardroom approves. This panel explores the life and breath of Hip Hop.

8. The Enigma of Beauty: Airbrushed to Perfection
Location: Harlem Hospital Auditorium Time: 3:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Introduction by: Krishan Trotman (HBF Advisor)
Moderator: Lucille McEwen (Director, Harlem Community Congregations, Inc.)
Panelists: Tia Williams (The Accidental Diva), Iman (The Beauty of Color), Akiba Solomon (Naked), Benide Little (Who Does She Think She Is?), Karrine Steffans (Confessions of a Video Vixen) What is "beauty"? Where along the line did beauty merge with perfection? And, most importantly, what type of beauty
are we being exposed to through literature? This discussion will open eyes to the airbrushed images that bombard our entertainment, and therefore our culture. Perfection may sell, but arguably it is human diversity and flaw that makes life
interesting, and beautiful. Why are we not seeing this reality reflected in the books we read and the images we see?

No, she is just coming from her court apperance. This is the real Ashanti not that girl you've seen on the so called Ashanti Sex Tape. She looks like she is about to do do a striptesse with that pink and black lace top. Not sure if that was the right thing to wear to court.

When will The Source pay it's writers?
Listen to this article Listen to this article

What's going on over at The Source? They talk about being the biggest and the best hip-hop magazine of all time but they can't seem to pay their writers on time. The Source really needs to shape it up and pay the people that make their magazine so on and poppin. But also all the writers out there need to get jiggy with it and form together as a collective unity and get ya'll money. There either needs to be the formation of a Hip-Hop/Urban Writers union or they need to file a bextra class action lawsuit.

2ND Annual Boogie Down Battle
Listen to this article Listen to this article

Can your Hip Hop group Serve?

Bringing it back to WHERE it all began Bringing it back to WHY it all began Hosted by Miss Audrey’s Dance Studio 1445 Unionport Road, Bronx, NY 10463 347-403-1482 – 718-620-9734

Here’s how it works plain and simple, the way it should be:
August 6th 3:00 pm Round ONE Elimination: 5 groups battle for this semi-final round, winning group (chosen by audience) returns for the FINALS ON
August 20th

August 13th 3:00 pm Round TWO Elimination: 5 NEW groups battle for this semi-final round, winning group (chosen by audience) returns to battle winner of Round One in the FINALS ON August 20th

August 20th 7:00 pm FINALS Winners from first two semi-finals battle for cash prize (determined by tickets sold at the door) and Bragging Rights Rules of Engagement Minimum/Maximum 10 dancers per group Entry fee of $10 per dancer/All Groups must register on July 16th, 12:00 noon-2:00 pm (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Music will play for 7 minutes (Audience chooses the winner so pack the house with who you know but keep it real) In the event of a tie, 5 dancers from tie groups will be selected by host to battle for the win $10 Admission fee for Audience (REGARDLESS OF AGE) so if you have a child who’s 2 and another who’s 25 they EACH PAY $10 but that won’t happen because no one under the age of 5 will be admitted.

Only the first 150 people will be admitted. Seating is limited so arrive early. Dancers are to arrive 15 minutes before show time. Anyone showing up after the 15 minute grace period automatically eliminates your groups contention and forfeits your entry fee so make sure EVERYONE is there on-time and there are NO Stand-ins. Meaning: John Doe can’t try and act like he’s one of the dancers trying to kill time until Jack Doe gets there. This is called “cheating” and will lead to automatic disqualification and No refund of entry fee.

The Game apologized again to 50 Cent?
Listen to this article Listen to this article

The Game has apologized to rap star 50 Cent again, after breaking their truce to verbally attack him.

Now this is surprising after doing that 1 million bars record and dissing 50 Cent as much as he could. While it was a nice try the 15 minute song came across as boring, childish, and just another plot at getting attention.

Now if you all remembre 50 Cent and The Game kissed and maded up in Harlem during a press conference and gave money to the Harlem boys choir. Now while 50 Cent has remained silent on The Game, it didn't stop The Game from beating up a G-Unit rat on stage at Hot 97 Summer Jam. 50 Cent is currently busy with 2 tours and filming a movie and working on his video game. So he has no time to sit and play back and forth with The Game. He has money to make.

But The Game spoke out against 50 while on tour last month - and he's very sorry. He says, "I am very upset with myself and ashamed, to have participated in the things that have been going on but I'm definitely not the person who started it."
"I'm ashamed and am really apologetic.
"When I say it I say it with the sincerity of my heart and also with my grandmother who passed right after I graduated from high school.
"She was the only person in my life at that time who ever believed I'd be anything.
"I'm looking forward to a more positive and productive future."

Well we will be watching Mr. Game. You said that at the press conference and you have yet to keep your word. WE are tired of all the Rap Beef and we are happy that 50 Cent has said nothing and has focused on his businesses. You need to follow the same path.

The ROOTS are coming to Hudson River Park's Pier 54 in on July 14, 2005 at 7PM for a free show.

More than any other East Coast hip hop "band", The Roots are the most steeped in underground cred. This Philadelphia group, formed by Black Thought (Tariq Trotter), drummer ?uestlove (Ahmir Khalib Thompson), bassist Hub (Leon Hubbard) and rapper Malik B, is deeply respected for their authentic sound and live jams. We suggest you arrive early; these free concerts have a tendency to get super crowded.
